Successful CMI conference on Converging Mobile Media
The Center for Communication, Media and Information Technologies (CMI), of the Copenhagen Institute of Technology (CIT), Aalborg University, Denmark, held its First International Conference on Converging Mobile Media. The conference was organized in cooperation with the Advanced technology network on Mobile Systems, CTiF Copenhagen, and CMI’s CAMMP Project.
The conference featured presentations by professionals from industry and researchers including presentations on mobile television in countries that have come furthest in the development and market take-up of new applications and services in this field.

The keynote speech was held by Song-Min Kim from ETRI, Korea, on mobile TV developments in South Korea. This was followed by a session on business perspectives with presentations by:
- Steffen Ring from Motorola on the standardization of new advanced generations of mobile and wireless technologies – IMT-Advanced
- Christiane Vejløe from the mobile operator 3 on their mobile TV experiences in Denmark
- Johan Winbladh from DR on mobile media seen from a content provider point of view
In the subsequent session, research perspectives were presented by:
- Ramjee Prasad from Aalborg University on the future generations of mobile and wireless technologies
- Andreas Berger from FTW, Austria, on mobile TV technology and experiences in Austria
- Lieven de Marez from MICT, Belgium, on user centric innovation of mobile TV in Flanders
- Claudio Feijoo from IPTS, Spain, on the competitiveness of the European mobile industry
In a last session, perspectives from the CAMMP-project were presented by Knud Erik Skouby (CMI), Steffen Ring, (Motorola) and Johan Winbladh (DR). The discussion in this session was concerned with frequency, content and business aspects of the development of mobile media.
Finally, William Melody from LIRNE.NET presented his closing remarks emphasizing the regulatory issues that surround the development of mobile media.
