ITU reports

 

During the ITU TELECOM ASIA 2008 (Bangkok, Thailand, 2-5 September), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) launched the new Asia-Pacific Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Report – “Broadband in Asia-Pacific: Too much, too little?” The Report focuses on broadband connectivity as a vehicle for content to drive development and build a knowledge-based information society.

The ITU has also released its first statistical report on the Use of Information and Communication Technology by the World’s Children and Youth, which the ITU expects to update every four years.

CPRsouth3 – Call for Young Scholar Award Applications

 

The Communication Policy Research South (CPRsouth) conference on “Transformation Strategies for Telecom Operators”, will take place from December 5-7, 2008 in Beijing, China. CPRsouth3 will offer researchers an opportunity to discuss their research on ICT regulation and policy in the South with a policy-oriented, international audience and obtain useful feedback. Fifteen Young Scholars from the Asia-Pacific region and 15 from China will be selected to participate in the tutorials scheduled to be held after CPRsouth3 (December 8 and 9, 2008).
